NYPD: On Friday, January 1, 2021 at 0505 hours, police responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle collision at the corner of Ocean Crest Boulevard and Rockaway Freeway, within the confines of the 101 Precinct. Upon arrival, officers observed a 60-year-old female and a 57-year-old male, unconscious and unresponsive with trauma about the head and body. EMS responded and transported the aides to St. John’s Episcopal Hospital where they were both pronounced deceased. Preliminary investigation revealed that, Vehicle #1, a gray 2011 Dodge Ram was travelling eastbound on Rockaway Freeway, at an apparent high rate speed, when it struck vehicle #2, a blue 2019 Nissan Rouge travelling northbound on Ocean Crest Boulevard. The operator of vehicle #1 fled the location on foot in an unknown direction, while two occupants, a 37-year-old male and a 33-year-old male stayed on scene. The 37-year-old male sustained lacerations to the head and was transported by EMS to NYC & Health & Hospitals/Jamaica in stable condition and the 33-year-old male was taken into custody and charged with Obstruction Governmental Administration and Disorderly Conduct. The NYPD’s Highway Collision Squad is investigating.
